I just heard that they are going to close below McNary from May through June. Those people have got crap all screwed up. So I am to assume that stugeon only spawn just below the Dams?

This is a good thing Recon i went to the meeting they had last fall and learned alot the guides have been fishing with 80 + pound line and they said they can pull a 10' fish up in 10 to 15 min this is a verry bad deal it hurts the fish if not kills the fish rember they like all fish have air bladders any way I wont say all sturg spawn at the dam but they say the water has to have a certain velocity befor they spawn and if the velocity is not at a certain point they will not spawn so that's why the Hogs are up their and with the Hogs Guides come in and the two just dont mix!!! I guess we just just need to sit down with a couple rods and a case of beer and catch a few fish and talk about how nutsy ODFW is doing just look at the springer run this year they dont know their heads from their ass when it comes to bears and cougers either a guy at work found a few Elk kills last weekend from cat's in my opinion it's time to get some hounds ready ;D
pm me let's catch some fish it's getting hot

I am not in disagreement with ya Brian. I guess my only problem is that they just closed the retention of sturgeon. Not the fishing of. Their problem is they want to regulate the crap out of everything and they dont care about any thing but the salmon. ODFW is willing to wipe out every fish in the rivers except the salmon. Example: Brownlee res. on the snake river is at forty three feet below full. 43 freaking feet. What does this mean, this means that the crappie and bass that are getting ready to spawn are literaly up a creek. they will spawn in the shallows and then around June, when the salmon are done with their spawn. They will raise the water up to full. This will put the crappie and bass eggs somewhere around fifty feet down. That will in turn kill of the hatches.
Now that I am getting down off of my soap box (sorry, this is a sore subject with me) I feel that "people" or in other terms sportsmen/sportswomen/sportspersons, need to be resposible. there are regulations already in effect that can reduce the stress of oversized sturgeon. WE jsut need to follow them. Or they need to be enforced more frequently. This would mean more patrols by ODFW, State Police and County Sherriffs offices.
Now I can pm you Brian. I feel better

I finally got out there to. Of course I was a day late. Went out July 1 and guess when retention ended. That is right, July 1. We still had fun. We caught 11 and I busted my boat rod. Wasnt to bad. I finally got to try out my bait. Now I think I will make up some more and try to sell some. It worked great and it even landed three big ole' channel cats.

Yah, I was there. I think it was a little short from a keeper. It was a nice fish though. He was all exited. It was his first time catching The Sturge. Now that is all he wants to fish for.
