My wife has said she'd like to take up deer hunting with me. So, here is where it gets tricky. She's 5'2 and 105lb....quite tiny. She'll need a rifle that doesn't kick like a mule, but have lots of juice for deer and up to moose or elk....mainly deer. I'm leaning towards the Remington[ don't even say it ] 7400 with a wood stock. A wood stock so I can adjust the LOP and a semi to reduce recoil. I'd say a 270 should meet the requirements....a great deer caliber and more than enough power to drop 'em hard out to 200yd. with a neck/throat shot on elk or moose. I know some will say that a throat shot is risky, but lets get real. At 200yd. the neck of an elk or moose isn't exactly a small target[with a properly dialed in scope].Opinions please..... Any other semi auto you'd suggest over the Rem.?[please]

Sounds good to me. You really cant go wrong with the .270 it is a great all around cartridge. I know a lot of people that shoot a .270 and they use it on every thing from coyote to elk. I am personal sold on the new short mags. You get magnum performance with out the magnum kick.
